Very minimal. You primarily provide the Challenge Brief and any necessary API keys or sandboxed data for participants to build against. HackerRule handles all hosting, environment provisioning, submission handling, and infrastructure scaling.
We mandate that all participants agree to a standard IP assignment clause, often linked directly to the prize structure (i.e., by accepting the prize, the winning team assigns IP to the host). We work with you to integrate your specific legal requirements into the challenge terms.
Most clients require 3 to 6 weeks for full preparation, which includes finalizing the challenge brief, setting up the scoring criteria, and executing the developer marketing campaign to ensure maximum participant registration before the event weekend.
